January 21, 2010, a day that will live in infamy. It's official, the Supreme Court has finalized a corporate coup detat in the landmark case Citizens United v. FEC.
By granting corporations the human Right of Free Speech and declaring that money=speech, in a narrow 5-4 vote the corporatist, right-wing Supremes have put the entire government of the United States on the auction block to the highest multinational corporate bidders!
Unless we Amend the Constitution, prohibiting corporations from obtaining the rights guaranteed to humans, we shall all become the serfs and slaves of a new ruling class elite, the largest multi-national corporations and their CEOs. Sign the petition to Amend and join in local efforts to alter the Charters of your cities and counties. If democracy is to survive this corporate onslaught an awakened citizenry must act now to Amend the Constitutions and Charters of their local, state, and national governments. Carpe diem!
