Disaster in the Gulf: Or why the corporate charters of BP, Halliburton, and Transocean should be revoked.

Corporations are running amok in the United States and around the world, buying politicians, shaping and formulating our laws, destroying the environment with impunity, decimating communities, and running roughshod over the will of the people.

BP, Halliburton, and Transocean are all transnational corporations headquartered in other countries, paying little or no US taxes, profiting on our resources, and subsidized by we the taxpaying people of this country.

It's time to revoke their corporate charters, it's time to apply the corporate death penalty to these rogue corporations.

Unknown to most of us, almost all the states have rarely used laws designed to revoke the charters of corporations who violate the public trust. And it does not require a lawsuit to file!

Citizens groups in California filed such a petition with their Attorney General against another oil company.

For a concise study on how this was done read this brief but poignant book: Challenging Corporate Rule: The Petition To Revoke Unocal's Charter as a Guide to Citizen Action
